Another hotel with great accessibility in Berlin. This time I visited Germany for the 45th Berlin Marathon and obviously I looked for a budget accessible hotel as close to the start line as possible. This choice could not be any better! Just at the gate of Tiergarten Park, about 2km from the start line of Berlin Marathon and about 3km to Berlin’s famous Brandenburg Gate. Its friendliness for the wheelchair users was at the highest level with reasonable price considering that all other hotels raised their prices because of the marathon weekend. As I traveled with more family members I booked one accessible double bedroom which was located on the ground level and one triple bedroom with an accessible adapted bathroom. A small disadvantage of this triple room was its location – 4th floor and slightly less space in comparison to the double bedroom – but still enough room to move around in even a bigger wheelchair.
Both bathroom equipped with roll-in showers, wall mounted seats, grabrails around shower, toilet and sink. The only thing I did not figure out is how to adjust a mirror angle. I believe it was adjustable, though…
If I get lucky to make the Berlin Marathon next year I can already save some time for a research and proceed to booking a room in this hotel right away. If you consider the Berlin Marathon on a wheelchair or handbike, then look no further!
